Specialisation

Boys school.

The school prides itself on its sporting achievements in football and cricket as well as more unusual sports like Bike Polo. The PE department provide a wide range of teams giving our highest achieving sportsmen the opportunity to compete against other schools.

These usually include the Jack Petchey ‘Speak Out Challenge’, the National Schools’ Mathematics Challenge, the Hans Woyda Mathematics Competition, the Physics Olympiad, Magistrates Court ‘Mock Trial’ Competition, and several others linked to Business Studies and Economics.

The school offers swimming lessons, food studies as part of its curriculum.

Year 7-8 study both French and Spanish and can chose to continue learning either one later in their school caeer.

At Woodford we run a huge range of visits for students of all age groups. Day visits with targeted educational outcomes reinforce learning in individual subject areas. In addition, our proximity to London gives us access to many enrichment opportunities.

Latin, German and French are taught to all girls from year 7-9.

Food studies.

Product Design

In Product Design the students gain confidence in a workshop environment by using hand tools and machines. They will learn about plastics and how to manufacture products promoting healthy eating using injection moulding. They will also learn about how plastics are used in packaging and use a vacuum former. For the rest of the course in they will learn about how mechanisms are used in systems and control to model pop up mechanisms and also be introduced to CAD/CAM by designing products that will be manufactured using the Laser cutter.
